The mission of SYPC has always been to provide as many children as possible the opportunity to participate in the wonderful world of horses and eventing, and to make it as affordable as possible.  We are able to achieve this through our relationship with Shepherd Ranch and through fundraising by volunteering at the two Shepherd Ranch horse trials and one day SYVPC horse show. SYVPC receives 25% of the profit from the 3 day horse trials and an even larger percentage of the one day horse show.    Our time and effort allows SYP clubbers to enjoy the benefits of...

• An eventing facility with an Introductory through Preliminary cross country course, dressage arena and three show jumping arenas at twice monthly pony club for no fee, and at any time for a reduced "haul in" (facility use) fee. (Twin Rivers in Paso Robles chargers PC'ers $48 and Shepherd Ranch charges $25 and only $10 when having a lesson at Shepherd Ranch.)
• Opportunity to board at a eventing facility at a much reduced rate. Many eventing facilities do not board horses, and if they do it is at a much higher cost. For example, Twin Rivers accepts a few horses. Board there is over $400/mo. for an outside covered stall and over $500 for a barn stall with outside area and boarders are required to be in training...an additional hundreds of dollars, Boarding at local facilities without the cross country course or multiple jumping/dressage rings is generally well over $300/month. Shepherd Ranch charges under $200 for pasture and just over $200 for a stall.
• Opportunity to enter 2 nationally recognized horse trials locally- lower expense since an event at an "away" facility incurs travel and hotel expenses.
• Opportunity to lease a PC horse if a horse is injured or child has gone beyond the level of their current mount. Shepherd Ranch helps PC by not charging PC board on horses that are not leased.
• Membership in a Nationally recognized equestrian organization (Pony Club) and opportunity to participate in national championships.
• Club financial assistance for national championships (assistance dependent on success of fundraising).
• Continual upgrades to meet Pony Clubber's riding needs.
